Description

HANS III HANS DEVICE 20 Degree

The HANS III Device / FHR represents the third generation of injection moulded HANS devices. It features a contemporary approach to reducing weight.
Using an all-new design and polymer, the device features a hollow collar that substantially minimizes weight.
Engineered reinforcements ensure an exceptionally strong structure that provides the same level of safety as every HANS device.
The reduced mass of the HANS III guarantees the lightest and most comfortable injection moulded HANS ever.

Size Guide

To determine the size of HANS measure your neck.  Medium suits 35cm to 43cm diameter and Large suits 41cm to 50cm diameter.

Drivers with well-developed neck and trapezuis muscles may require one size larger than their neck size would indicate.

SIMPSON HYBRID SPORT FIA – Revolution Racegear

Manufactured from carbon fiber reinforced polymer, the HANS III device is shaped like a “U”. The back of the “U” sits behind the neck. The two arms lie flat along the top of the chest over the pectoral muscles. The device is supported by the shoulders. It attaches to the helmet, not to the belts, the driver’s body, or the seat. The helmet attaches to the device via an anchor on each side. With a correctly installed 5- or 6-point racing harness, the belts that cross the driver’s upper body pass directly over the HANS device and buckle at the center of the driver’s abdomen. The HANS device secures to the body of the driver, not the seat.

The purpose of the HANS device is to keep the head from whipping in a crash. This prevents excessive rotational movement without restricting movement of the neck. This allows the wearer’s head to move normally but prevent or restrict head movements that exceed the normal articulation range of the musculoskeletal system. Movement that would exceed the normal articulation range of the musculoskeletal system.

In a crash the body is decelerated by the harness. The head maintains velocity until decelerated by the neck. HANS devices maintain the position of the head relative to the body. The Device transfers energy to the chest, torso, shoulder, seat belts, and seat as the head is decelerated.
